LIBERIA – Telecel Global Services (TGS), a telecommunication company, has acquired K3 Liberia Telecom Liberia’s largest licensed ISP specializing in the deployment of fixed wireless technology to deliver voice, data, cloud hosting and content services to the under-served enterprise, SMB, education, healthcare, and public sectors.
The managing director of K3 Liberia Telecom highlighted the importance of TGS’s expansion into Western Africa and the company’s key reasons for acquiring K3 Telecom Liberia.
“We are keen to enter the Liberian market and work to expand data connectivity throughout the country. Our objective is to provide affordable, reliable, and secure connectivity services to customers in Liberia,” he said.
“We will deploy Telecel’s advanced IT, security, and cloud-based solutions, which we will offer through the K3 brand, to Liberian business customers. Our goal is to provide the Liberian market with a variety of locally hosted and innovative solutions tailored to the needs of the customer. These services will include IaaS, PaaS, SaaS and cloud voice services.”
Liberia has a population of around 5 million and only 20% have access to internet services. Telecel Global intends to invest in and expand the K3 network and connect neighboring cities over fiber.
Once connected, the company intends to deploy hotspots which will provide much needed connectivity to SMEs, large organizations, multinationals, NGOs and government organizations enabling reliable communications tools for stakeholders such as schools and universities, healthcare, manufacturing and financial verticals, and giving easy access to the internet to the population at large.
“We are pleased to announce the acquisition of K3 Liberia. It is a vital part of Telecel Global’s ISP expansion strategy into West Africa. Telecel Global has a mission to provide connectivity to the unconnected Liberian population by deploying innovative and cost-effective fixed wireless solutions,” Ramzi Shalak, Chief Executive Officer of Telecel Global Services said.
“Once reliable connectivity has been established, we will overlay locally hosted cloud and security services with the objective of ensuring that the user experience exceeds the industry accepted QoS.
“Although every business invests with the objective of achieving a return on investment, TGS is committed to direct some of the planned investment purely to the benefit of the Liberian people and the development of Liberia.”
