NIGERIA – Renaissance Capital, an emerging and frontier markets focused investment bank, has appointed Mr Adedapo Akinpelu as its Vice President in charge of Investment Banking.
Renaissance revealed that Akinpelu will be based in Lagos and report to Temitope Popoola, CEO, Nigeria and Risana Zitha, Head of Investment Banking, Africa.
In his welcoming remarks, Popoola said “We are glad to welcome Akinpelu to our on-the-ground team. He has a strong track record in financial advisory, corporate finance, structured finance and project finance.”
This he said “dovetails particularly well with our recently deepened structured products and financing offering in Nigeria.”
On his part, the Head of Investment Baking in Africa, Mr. Zitha noted that Akinpelu has extensive experience advising both public and private sector clients in selected industries including financial services, power, and real estate.
“I am sure his skills will perfectly complement the existing pool of capabilities,” added Mr. Zitha.
Akinpelu brings more than 10 years of experience in the financial industry. In his most recent role he served as Senior Associate of Financial advisory at FBN Quest Merchant Bank, he took the lead role on a majority of transactions.
Previously he had worked with QG Investment Africa Management and was responsible for the origination and execution of private equity (direct) investments, covering Healthcare & General Industries Investments across Sub-Saharan Africa.
He also worked at Standard Chartered Bank for over six years, where he focused on equity capital raising and mergers & acquisitions in the FMCG, Agriculture, Healthcare, Telecoms, Industrials and Oil & Gas space in Africa.
He holds a degree in Accounting from the University of Lagos and has been a member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) since 2008 and a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charter holder since 2011.
