KENYA – Glovo, an on-demand delivery start-up, has announced the appointment of Priscilla Muhiu as the General Manager for Kenya. She takes over from William Benthall who has been appointed Glovo’s General Manager for Sub-Saharan Africa.
Glovo lauded the new General Manager on her passion for solving problems in Africa through technology.
“Priscilla has a wealth of industry knowledge when it comes to growth hacking, market strategy development and business modelling. She is also very passionate about solving problems in Africa through the use of innovative technologies,” read a statement.
Priscilla brings 13 years of experience in business development and marketing. 9 of those years have been spent on working with tech companies. She also brings knowledge on growth hacking, market development and business modelling.
Prior to her appointment, Ms Muhiu was the Africa Marketing Head for Glovo, where she led the team that successfully launched the Glovo brand in Kenya and Côte d’Ivoire. Her previous experience includes working with tech companies such as Sendy and OLX.
“I am delighted to be taking over from William… I’m looking forward to continuing the good work that we have done here with Glovo, in a market that is very vibrant and full of promising prospects,” Ms Muhiu on her part said.
Glovo is a Spanish on-demand delivery platform that operates in over 650 cities in 22 countries across the world with more than 2.5 million monthly active users.
The appointment of the new GM for Kenya shows that Glovo is serious about the Kenyan market. According to Glovo, they are in 22 countries and over 660 cities worldwide. In Africa, they are available in Kenya, Côte d’Ivoire and Morocco. They claim to have 1,600 employees with over 7.3 active customers worldwide.
Glovo has presence in major towns in Kenya like Nairobi and Mombasa. The app is available on Android and iOS where you use it to order practically anything to your location. They have partnerships with restaurants for you to order meals or even supermarkets that competes with Uber Eats.
They also have a partnership with supermarkets like Carrefour to order shopping to your location. Additional items you can order on Glovo include beauty and health products, drinks or even express shipment.
