MOROCCO – Nexans Group, a cabling solutions vendor, has strengthened its industrial presence in Morocco with the inauguration of a new plant for the Telecom Systems Business Unit.
The new factory will produce optical fiber cable connectorization accessories for fiber-to-the-home (FTTH), 5G, Data center and local computer network applications.
Minister of Industry and Trade Moulay Hafid Elalmy inaugurated the new factory located in the industrial acceleration zone in Nouaceur.
The factory covers an area of over 6,000 square meters, including 3,000 square meter of production workshop.
The plant will offer job opportunities toa workforce of 250 to 300 by 2022. It will allow the group to increase its production capacity, while expanding its product range to offer new services for supply chain optimization and cable connectorization.
the vendor stated that it will serve the European market, as well as the North African market.
“This new investment in Morocco of the industrial leader Nexans, in line with the European strategy of rationalization of the supply chain, demonstrates the competitiveness of Morocco and the resilience of the national industrial sector in this context of crisis,” Elalamy said.
The Minister added that: “The project will help meet the growing demand for advanced connectivity solutions and strengthen the positioning of the Moroccan industrial base on advanced technologies.”
According to Nexans, the plant will enable the Nexans Group to increase its production capacity, while expanding its product range and offering new services to better satisfy its customers: supply chain optimization services, component pre-wiring and cable connectorisation services. In addition,

Nexans is present in 34 countries through commercial activities. The group has a workforce of nearly 26,000 people.
