KENYA – Lami Insurtech, an insurance technology company which exclusively distributes digital insurance products has unveiled an entirely digital car insurance app known as Griffin Motor App.

Jihan Abass, founder, CEO Lami Insurtech said the application targets to digitise car insurance for over 1 million Kenyan drivers who have to go through long queues to be served.

“This is very exciting for Lami. It’s been our dream to bring insurance products to smartphone users,” said Abass during the launch.

According to the CEO, purchasing insurance products had never been as easy as Griffin Motor App would make it.

“For the first time, Kenyan drivers will be able to buy their car insurance policy, with just a few simple clicks. They will read a clear, transparent policy and purchase extremely flexible insurance covers with adjustable periods and coverage amounts,” she said.

She explained that customers may pause, downgrade, or upgrade their policy as they wished. This app features additional powerful services that will change how users interact with their cars.

The founder assured that clients would feel safer courtesy of a smart emergency response option in the app, accessible through an in-app help button.

The in-app help button commands the system to dispatch ambulances, towing trucks or security teams nearest to the motorists across the country.

The app is also able to achieve record claims settlement times due its digital claims system which allows users to file claims using their phones.

“The current insurance process is like using a basic handset in the age of smartphones. This app is efficient, convenient, and allows us to tailor-make our insurance needs. It is what Kenyans would love. They will receive a fair quotation, based on their individual profile,” explained Abass.

Lami Insurtech, a Kenyan company was founded in 2018 by Oxford University graduate Jihan Abass and aims at breaking the low insurance barrier through digital channels.

Lami specialises in digitisation and online distribution of insurance products across the African continent to enable the large uninsured population to mitigate risk and protect themselves from unforeseen events.

Griffin Motor App will be available in Android Play and the iOs App Stores.
