KENYA – Schneider Electric Kenya, a global specialist in energy management and automation, has announced the appointment of Ifeanyi Odoh as its new country president for Kenya effective February 2024 to replace Carol Koech.

Ifeanyi Odoh brings a wealth of experience to his new role, having previously served as the Strategy and Transformation Leader for Schneider Electric in South East Asia, overseeing Vietnam and Cambodia.

Prior to his role in South East Asia, Ifeanyi served as the Head of Offer Marketing & Business Development in Anglophone West Africa.

In this capacity, he led and executed commercial actions and go-to-market strategies for Schneider Electric’s products, software, and services in the region. His career with Schneider Electric began in France as a Research Engineer in the Strategy and Innovation department.

I am delighted to have been appointed to lead Schneider Electric Kenya. It is a business with an impressive stronghold in East Africa, a strong brand presence, a talented team, and immense growth opportunities,” Ifeanyi commented on his appointment.

“I will be focused on working with the local team to deliver not just a step-up in business performance, but I will also look to establishing New Energy Concepts and Impact Entrepreneurship initiatives in the region.”

The outgoing Country President, Carol Koech, will be assuming a new role leading Sustainability Strategy for Schneider Electric in International Operations, involving a relocation to Dubai. She became the country President for Schneiderr Electric Kenya in 2020.

Devan Pillay, the Anglophone Africa Cluster President at Schneider Electric, expressed enthusiasm about Ifeanyi’s appointment, describing him as a visionary strategist and transformational leader. The company aims to leverage Ifeanyi’s insights into the New Energy Landscape to unlock new opportunities in the East African region.

In welcoming Ifeanyi Odoh to his new role, Devan Pillay expressed confidence in Ifeanyi’s ability to build on the foundation laid by his predecessor and emphasized the company’s anticipation of tapping into his institutional knowledge and experience gained from diverse Schneider Electric markets.

Devan Pillay acknowledged Koech’s significant contributions during her three-year tenure, citing her leadership in streamlining operational excellence and positioning the company for its next phase of growth.

The appointment comes months after Schneider Electric Kenya Limited and ACTOM Kenya Ltd joined forces in a deal confirming ACTOM’s intent to take over the production of Schneider Electric’s BlokSeT type tested switchboards.

The agreement will see Schneider Electric Kenya transfer its manufacturing operations, assets, and people who currently operate the manufacturing and assembly plant, to ACTOM.

It will also entail the company’s assembly and manufacturing plant employees continuing with their professional journeys with ACTOM while upholding the high standard of work provided by Schneider Electric across the globe.

ACTOM is the largest manufacturer, solution provider, repairer, maintainer, and distributor of electro-mechanical equipment in Africa, offering a winning and balanced combination of manufacturing, service, repairs, maintenance, projects and distribution through its 33 outlets throughout Sub-Saharan Africa and footprint across the globe.

Schneider Electric Kenya will continue to run its sales, marketing, projects, services, and logistics operations from Kenya, serving the East African market.
