EGYPT – Ezdehar Management, an Egypt-based private equity firm, has acquired a minority stake in Al-Tayseer Healthcare Group through Ezdehar Egypt Mid-Cap Fund, a $85m private equity fund that focuses on investments in mid-sized companies in Egypt.

In statement, Ezdehar explained that investing in Al-Tayseer Healthcare Group (THG) aims at supporting THG in consolidating its position as the largest healthcare provider in the underserved Delta region.

To this end, the private equity firm further noted that THG will now be able to invest in a number of hospitals in the pipeline, and expand its chain of laboratories in the coming years.

He further noted that the firm looked forward to providing the necessary support for them and increasing our investments in the company’s hospitals and laboratories.

“We aim to strengthen our efforts to develop the company’s management, governance systems, and structure, in order to become one of the leaders in the sector of health services in Egypt,” Barsoum added.

THG has witnessed strong growth over the past five years, supported by the extension implemented at its flagship hospital, Al-Tayseer International Hospital in Zagazig.

In addition to this, THG recently acquired Hassab Labs; the leading chain of medical laboratories in Alexandria; and also invested in Mansoura Medical Center, the largest private hospital in Mansoura.

The company has an ambitious expansion plan to increase the number of beds in Al-Tayseer International Hospital in Zagazig, and to also renovate and expand of its hospital in Mansoura.

The hospital group also plans to inaugurate a new hospital in Meet Ghamr, which on commissioning will increase the group’s total number of beds to 495 bed, enabling the company to become one of the largest groups pertinent to the health services in Egypt.
