MOROCCO – The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has announced the appointment of two new managers in the Maghreb.

The Frenchman Antoine Sallé de Chou will take up his post as director of operations for the bank in Morocco. He succeeds the French-Canadian Marie-Alexandra Veilleux-Laborie.

Antoine will be responsible for the EBRD’s investments and operations in the country and report to Heike Harmgart, the Bank’s Managing Director for the southern and eastern Mediterranean (SEMED) region.

“I am honoured to take on this new responsibility. I am committed to building on the successful track record the EBRD has achieved in Morocco. We will continue to support the country through investment, small business advice and policy dialogue to strengthen its economy and advance its private sector,” Antoine said commented on his appointment.

After working at the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs (New York, Paris, Kiev) and then in management consulting in London at Marakon and at the French Treasury (based in Moscow), this holder of an MBA from Insead (2011) and a master’s degree in International Affairs from Sciences Po (2005-2007) joined the EBRD in 2013 as a senior advisor for strategy and policy.

In 2017, he joined Tunisia as Head of Office where he managed a significant increase in the Bank’s investments and strengthened policy engagement with the authorities, including on the EBRD’s green economy transition approach.

“Building on the EBRD’s successes in the country, I look forward to continuing our work with the Tunisian authorities, the donor community and other strategic partners to support and advance the country’s economic priorities, facilitate private sector development, green investments and sustainable and inclusive growth,” Nodira Mansurova succeeds Antoine Sallé de Chou as the EBRD’s Head of Investment and Operations in Tunisia.

A dual Uzbek-British national, she holds a Bachelor’s degree in International Economic Relations from the University of World Economy and Diplomacy (UWED) in Tashkent (1994-2000) and joined the EBRD in 2001.

Since September 2016, she has been the regional manager of the Bank’s SME financing and development programme in Central Asia and Mongolia (based in Almaty, Kazakhstan). She is now based in Tunis.

Since September 2012 and the start of its operations in Tunisia, the EBRD has invested more than €1.3 billion in fifty-four projects. To date, since 2012, the EBRD has invested €3 billion in Morocco through 74 projects.

Nodira Mansurova and Antoine Sallé de Chou will report directly to Heike Harmgart, EBRD Director General for the Southern and Eastern Mediterranean Region (Semed).
